Jack White Insists The Dead Weather Is A Collaborative Effort
Jack White may be the most prominent member of The Dead Weather, but he insists that this is truly a band with equal representation from all of the members. The rocker tells Australia's "Triple J," quote, "It's quite collaborative and everybody is very inspired." He admits he wasn't sure initially about contributions from Dean Fertita, but notes he wrote half of the first album and has brought an equal amount to the new project. The group is currently polishing off their second CD, and White says he will see it through the mixing process. He explains, quote, "I've never given the album away to mix to anybody. I'm so jealous of artists who do that. I'm always curious to hand something off and let somebody else mix it. I've never been able to do that. I'm too concerned with the minutiae of it." White says he'll start the mixing process in a couple of weeks and expect The Dead Weather's new album will be available in April.
