If you don’t know who Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is, you need to start paying attention.
Senator Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat. He is an independent, but in my opinion, he represents everything a Democrat should be. While most of our Democratic representatives talk the talk, Bernie is walking the walk. And here’s what I mean:
You probably have noticed that gas prices are on the rise again. But who besides Bernie is telling us why? And who besides Bernie is trying to stop it? In Bernie’s assessment, which is the correct assessment, the rise in oil prices is not based on supply and demand. It is being caused by speculators who are gaming the world market and driving up the costs for everybody, just so they can make a quick buck. And Bernie wants this to stop now!
On Wednesday June 10, Senator Sanders introduced legislation to make federal regulators invoke emergency powers to stop speculation. Stop speculation and you stop the wild swings in oil prices.
How about health care? Here again Bernie wants to put the American people first. Unlike our “trusted” Democratic representatives, Bernie is insisting on a single payer public option. Why? Because he knows the real problem is the health insurance companies. As Bernie say, “The function of a private health insurance company is not to provide health care; it is to deny health care.”
Any health care bill that doesn’t include the public option isn’t worth spit, and Bernie knows that. Could that be why he’s the only Senator to introduce a single-payer health care plan?
Yes Bernie Sanders is a senator to watch and to listen to. You can be sure if Bernie says it; it’s fact. Sanders is the real deal. He may in fact, be one of the few elected officials in Washington who has not been bought and paid for.
At a time when it’s hard to know who to trust, I am happy to say you can trust Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. He’s the real deal!
