Around Your Home
It’s Time to Get the House Ready for Christmas

Get the House Ready for ChristmasEvery year it’s the same thing. You think you have plenty of time to get the house ready for Christmas and before you know it, Christmas is here and the house just isn’t ready. This year it can be different. There is still time to get everything done before Santa makes a visit to your home.

Making your house Christmas ready means a lot more than cleaning up and getting the decoration hung in the right places. For a lot of us it’s going to mean clearing out specific pieces of furniture to make room for the tree, as well as other tasks that need to be done, even before the decorations are taken out of storage.

The place to start is by removing the clutter that from the main rooms in your home. Before you do anything else start, you really want to try to throw away and pack away what ever you won’t need during the Christmas season. Box up extra knick-knacks that will just get in the way as soon as the Christmas decorations start going up.

Next, clean out the cupboards and the fridge. That will give you a good look at what you may need for Christmas. Count your glasses and your coffee mugs to make sure that you’ll have enough for the number of guests that you are expecting this year. Let’s face it, nothing is more embarrassing than serving wine in a coffee mug.

The next thing to do is put extra furniture like end tables and ottomans into storage so that there is plenty of room for the Christmas tree and other decorations that are going to take up a lot of space. Also think about how the rooms in your house need to be set up to accommodate the guests you will receive during the holiday season.

When all that’s done, it’s time to get out the decorations. Of course, this is the fun part. When all the other work is done, you can enjoy putting up your Christmas decorations and making your home the perfect holiday destination for your friends and family.

Getting your home ready for Christmas doesn’t have to be stressful. If you start early there will be plenty of time to get everything done so that your house is just the way you want it when the holiday begins. Get going now, and you’ll be ready when the festivities begin.
