Dryer Diverters Give Free Heat and Save You Money! By: Amy Vedder |
| |
With the cost of home heating fuel on the rise everyone is looking for ways to keep their homes warm while saving money and energy at the same time. Unfortunately when it comes to heating your home, staying warm and saving money doesn’t always go together. But I recently ran across an item that does exactly that.
That’s right there is a product out there that not only helps keep your home warm but it also helps to save money and energy at the same time. What is this product you may ask? It’s called a Dryer Diverter and it works just as billed.
A Dryer Diverter is a small adapter device that connects to the exhaust hose from your clothes dryer. Rather than just venting all that hot air to the outside, a Dryer Diverter, divers the hot moist air into your home dramatically warming the air and preventing your furnace from turning on.
A Dryer Diverter is very inexpensive and very simple to install. A typical cost for a Dryer Diverter is around $10.00 and it takes only a few minutes to install it to your dryer exhaust pipe.
Every time you use your clothes dryer you get a dose of free hot air that normally would have vented to the exterior of your house. By diverting that hot air into your home, you not only enjoy the added heat but you also prevent your furnace from turning on and that saves you money.
The Dryer Diverter works great for electric dryers but there can be a concern with using it with natural gas powered dryers. If you have a gas dryer and you want to use the Dryer Diverter make sure you have a carbon dioxide detector in the area of the dryer just in case carbon dioxide is being vented through the dryer exhaust.
If you’re worried about what your heating bills will look like this winter you really should consider a Dryer Diverter. It’s inexpensive and easy to install and use. Since your going to use the dryer anyway, why not reclaim some of the heat that normally would just be vented to the outside? Free heat is free heat, and a Dryer Diverter makes it possible.
