Exercise Tips
Turn ordinary activities into extraordinarily effective exercises!

Turn ordinary activities into extraordinarily effective exercises! The number one reason people site for not getting the exercise they need is lack of time. It seems that everyone is so busy these days that most people just can’t find the time to exercise. Well, now you can go about your day and exercise all at the same time. It’s not magic and there’s no purchase required. All you have to do is add a little extra effort to your normal activities and you’ll be sneaking in exercises in places you would have never guessed. Take a look at the following suggestions:

• The stairs: Don’t just take the stairs, take the stairs sideways! That’s right, next time you face a flight of stairs take them going side ways moving one foot at a time. Keep your back straight and face the railing, which you may want to hold on to for balance. Take a step, do a little squat, back up and take another step, squat, etc… This little exercise won’t take that much time but it’s a great exercise to sneak in the day.

• In the kitchen: You’re filling a pan with water to boil on the stove; don’t just fill it and put it down, balance that pan with one hand and lift and lower and lift and lower. Repeat that a few times with each hand, and then put the pan down to boil.

• Excuse me you’ve dropped something: We all drop stuff during the day; usually we bend down in the most convenient way, pick it up, and go on with the day. Next time, bend down, bending at the knees with the back straight, down and up down and up. The time after that, stop after you drop, bend at the midsection, with the knees and back straight, slowly stretching down the body to the dropped item and then slowly curl back up again. Actually there are a lot of great exercises that can be inserted in here, think of some of your own and rotate from one to another.

• Be very quiet: When we were kids, we all used to tip-tow around when we had to be quiet, but walking on your tip-tows is a great exercise for the calf muscles. Even just stretching the muscle by standing on your tip-tows for a while is a great stretch and a great exercise.

Once you start to think about it, you’ll start to see all sorts of opportunities to sneak exercise into your day. You just have to be creative and committed to getting in a little fitness where and when you can.
